|
|
After the cancellation of the Welsh Opens 6 of the IOW players have been encouraged to visit Caerleon - are you sure this is a good idea.
I understand on the Saturday they will be engaged in 'visiting' a number of local boule pistes (all attached to pubs)
Caerleon has 6 pubs all with pistes within 2 miles of each other. The boule crawl is not to be taken lightly.
Warning - the Welsh have been known to turn up in kilts!
Warning - you will be expected to join in the drinks forfeits for various misdemeanors (such as breathing and standing up)
To read what happened last time it was attempted try

BE WARNED - there will be a camara there on Saturday

SoaB competion (Caerleon Sun 13th) and Caerleon Beer and Boule Crawl (Caerleon Sat 12th) have been brought forward by nearly a year due to the fact that the WPA opens were cancelled and the Isle of Wight contingent were already booked in to hotels.
Beer and Boules Crawl. There are 6 pubs in our village with boules pistes, all within 2 miles of each other. So Saturday will see a good number of our club (Caerleon RFC) along with the IOW, visiting various pistes (and maybe trying some ale)
Sunday will see the Son of a B**** competition at Caerleon RFC. A winner takes all competition with the best Welsh players attending.
To our great surpise and delight 4 of the IOW turned up tonight (Fri) for our melee:
Shirl, Shirl, Kev and Nick turned up and despite being a game behind Nick and Kev managed to be joint first place. We had to have a golden boule to decide the winner. Nick won the toss and decided to go second. Kev. threw the jack 10m and put a boule a foot away. Nick came into the circle, shot, hit the boule and spun his own back onto the jack. What a shot! What a start to the weekend!

All six survived the weekend (but didn't win anything ) and are looking forward to welcoming the Welsh back to the Isle of Wight next year. Watch out !! We may have a few cunning Isle of Wight tricks up our sleeves ! P.S. - Kev you look very fetching in those earrings !
